Kathryn Whitney showcased on the mainstage at Pacific Contact 2007, the annual professional booking conference of the British Columbia Touring Council for the Performing Arts, on Saturday, 31 March 2007. She and her pianist Charlotte Hale had a wonderful time at the conference, and they are grateful to have had the opportunity to perform for and to meet the many hard-working, dedicated presenters from across the province who attended the conference.
Kathryn's showcase featured the poem 'Whither must I wander' by Robert Louis Stevenson set to music by Ralph Vaughan Williams; two British parlour songs by T.C. Sterndale Bennett (Esau, and A Fly and a Flea in a Flue); a setting of Shakespeake's Sonnet 130 by Erich Korngold; a sweet Anonymous 17th-century love song 'O beautiful eyes' (O leggiadri occhi belli); and 'O mio babbino caro' from Pucinni's comic opera Gianni Schicci.
Kathryn would love to tour a program of songs and arias to your community. Presenters are invited to be in touch with TOM WALKER at PACIFIC MUSIC MARKETING.
